The folks at Thumbtack have reported the results of their annual “small business friendliness” survey. Not surprisingly, Albuquerque (and by extension the State Legislature) have some serious work to do to make the Land of Enchantment a more “enchanting” place to do business. While New Mexico’s unemployment rate is down to 4.7%, we still haven’t got as many jobs as we did 10 years ago.
According to this year’s Thumbtack report, Albuquerque ranked 47th (out of 57) and earned a D+ for overall small business friendliness. Overall, evaluations were 2 percent better than last year, when it received a D. As a comparison, Albuquerque scored lower than Phoenix (B+) and Colorado Springs (A+). On the state level, New Mexico ranked 47th and received a D.
