RGF decries large pay raises for Albuquerque officials on KOAT Channel 7

The Keller Administration is giving some of its top officials big raises. KOAT Channel 7 covered the issue and asked for comment. Not included in the story is my point that these raises come on the heels of a big tax hike just a year ago when the City’s leaders were crying poverty.

Pay raise data is as follows:

Police chief Michael Geier got a $20,000 raise, and the city’s chief administrative officer Sarita Nair received a $19,000 pay increase.

She now makes $190,000 a year and the police chief now makes $187,000 a year.

Fire Chief Paul Dow’s pay went from $136,000 to $150,000, Chief Operating Officer Lawrence Rael now makes $185,000, up $18,000 from last year.

Records show Chief Financial Officer Sanjay Bhakta got a $12,000 raise.
