The Rio Grande Foundation’s Paul Gessing will be sharing his views on the interplay between oil and gas markets and the economies of the Four Corners/New Mexico at the Four Corners Oil and Gas Conference. Gessing’s presentation will be from 2 to 2:45pm on Wednesday, May 8. The Conference is on the 8th and 9th. More information can be found here.
The conference will be held at Sun Ray Park and Casino in Farmington.
To summarize my talk, the Four Corners has not seen the same success as has the Permian Basin in Southeastern New Mexico, mostly for reasons of simple geology. The same can largely be said about New Mexico as a whole which, while it is seeing a great deal of money flow into the State’s coffers, remains economically-challenged in ways that its neighbors are not.
What can be done to improve and diversify New Mexico’s economy while capitalizing on the success of the oil and gas industry?
An article about the event ran in the Farmington Daily-Times which provided additional details.
