Our friends (and attorneys) at the Goldwater Institute (Arizona’s free market think tank) have provided an update on the Rio Grande Foundation lawsuit against the City of Santa Fe.
As you’ll recall, the City is attempting to stifle free speech, in this case on the soda tax issue. While the news cycle has moved on from the soda tax in Santa Fe (the issue was decided in May 2017 when voters decisively defeated it) our lawsuit will impact free speech from coast to coast. But, going to court takes time.
And, of course there is New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver who has adopted her own set of First Amendment defying campaign restrictions.
