ALEC stands for American Legislative Exchange Council. The organization describes itself as “A nonpartisan membership association for conservative state lawmakers who shared a common belief in limited government, free markets, federalism, and individual liberty.” They are holding their annual meeting, with well-known legislators, policymakers, and commentators from across the nation gathering now in San Diego.
