Ya’d think it would make more sense to attract outside private investment to NM by taking a 1-time third of that ~$20 billion O&G royalty fund (exclusively earmarked for a failing pub-ed system, dominated by teacher unions), put it in the budget cycle over 4+ years, with some other minor adjustments, and “permanently” eliminate ALL state income taxes. Not only would that be big national news, the NM O&G royalty fund would be back 100% within 5 yrs.
Where is the “visionary leadership”?
