RGF weighs in on Dems primary shift plans w/ KOAT 7

Recently, RGF was asked to weigh in on Democrats’ plans to shift their presidential primary forward from June through February. While RGF has no issue with changing primary dates, the fact is it is going to cost $15 million. We believe that cost should not be passed on to New Mexico taxpayers. Also, while left out of this story, holding separate primaries in February and June will play havoc with New Mexico’s new semi-open primary law which for the first time (this year) allowed independents to vote in either party’s primary election.
