Americans love their pets. Americans also love the environment and want to be green. While recycling and treading lightly on the land are not bad things, the hard-core environmentalists want to go much further than that. According to the book, “The eco-pawprint of a pet dog is twice that of a 4.6-litre Land Cruiser driven 10,000 kilometres a year.” Cat owners are not off the hook either as “cats have an eco-footprint of 0.15ha – slightly less than a Volkswagen Golf.”
