Truth in Government!

Yesterday, I was at the Willie Ortiz Building in Santa Fe to deliver my comments to the Environmental Improvement Board. While meeting in the lobby with our investigative journalist, Jim Scarantino, we both simultaneously noticed this sign:

Rarely are government bureaucrats so honest! Unfortunately, as the Rio Grande Foundation has repeatedly pointed out, government truly is the “Career of First Choice” for all too many New Mexicans. Instead of addressing this over-employment problem during the current, special legislative session, it looks more and more likely that tax hikes are on the way. Only angry New Mexicans can inform their “representatives” in Santa Fe that the private sector, not government, should be the “career of first choice” for New Mexicans.

  1. Their undemocratic nature is problematic enough, but being appointed by the Governor, they serve as nothing more than a gig (undoubtedly a cushy, paid one) for Friends of Bill.
Come to Comment at March 1 Environmental Improvement Board Meeting
The schedule is set. March 1 is the one and only public comment session being held by the Environmental Improvement Board
New Mexico’s economy is the lawsuit recently filed to strip the EIB of its authority in this matter. (that’s not what the lawsuit does)

  2. New Mexico’s over inflated bureaucracy is in large part why our system of government (NM) is in the shape it’s in.
Take a lesson from Arizona. They have been serious about enacting real furlows, cutting the fat, and trimming down on the number political payback jobs. So much so, that they have REDUCED taxes over there by 7% . Check it out
